Victorian Theatre Company, ‘Don’t go into the Cellar’, is returning to the MET Studio next month with an adaption of Mary Shelley’s classic horror story – Frankenstein 1899.

The nineteenth century is drawing to an end, and a brave new world is set to dawn. But the new age of enlightenment and reason will soon be challenged, and scientific fact cast asunder, when the charismatic preacher, Frankenstein, shocks Britons to the core with his claims – for the Reverend can communicate with the dead, and those sceptics intolerant of his beliefs will soon pay for their blasphemy…

Acclaimed actor Jonathan Goodwin plays Frankenstein, and is joined by actress Amy Bullock, in a show directed by Gary Archer.

Formed in 2010, ‘Don’t Go into the Cellar!’ comprises some of the British Empire’s self-proclaimed finest practitioners of theatrical Victoriana in a macabre vein. Utilising a talented troupe of professional actors and crew, they pride themselves on bringing new adaptations of nineteenth century literature’s greatest ghost and horror stories to modern audiences.

Frankenstein 1899 will be performed in the MET Studio at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre on Tuesday 19th September at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £11, with a £9 concession price, and are available from the Box Office on 01785 619080 or online via
